Music Spirit Singers

In the music classroom, students in Kindergarten through 4th grade sing, speak, dance, play instruments, and explore music through movement and games. We use the entire space to create together, encouraging active participation and joyful expression.

Throughout the year, students:

  • Develop a sense of steady beat, rhythm, and pitch

  • Learn to listen actively and respond to music

  • Explore a variety of musical styles and cultures

  • Practice performing with confidence and expression

  • Work together to create and share original musical ideas

Our goal is to nurture creativity, cooperation, and a lifelong love of music, making it a vibrant and meaningful part of every child’s school experience.

Each grade level also participates in one music concert performance throughout the year. The details on those dates can be found in the monthly newsletters.

Meeting Time: Thursdays, 3:20–4:20 PM (during weeks school is in session)

Description:
The 3rd & 4th Grade Spirit Singers Choir is an after-school opportunity for students who love to sing and want to grow as musicians. Meeting once a week, students will explore a variety of musical styles, learn healthy vocal techniques, and develop skills in harmony, rhythm, and performance. Through engaging activities, students will strengthen their confidence, teamwork, and musical expression while preparing for school and community performances.

Goals:

  • Foster a love and appreciation for music

  • Teach fundamental vocal techniques for healthy singing

  • Develop music-reading skills and rhythmic accuracy

  • Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and responsibility within a performance group

  • Provide opportunities for students to share their talents through performances

Behavior Expectations:
Participation in choir is a privilege. All school-wide behavior expectations apply to this extracurricular activity, just as they do during the regular school day. Students are expected to show respect for the director, their peers, and the rehearsal environment, so that everyone can learn and enjoy making music together.
